The moon screen displayed during the midnight transition.

Every day at 12:00 AM, the game rolls over into a new day regardless of whether the player chooses to sleep. During this transition, a moon is displayed on screen along with a message. The type of moon that appears determines what events, if any, will occur to the player.

Overview

The moon system acts as the game's primary method of signaling daily events to the player. Since the day rolls over at midnight automatically. Even if the player has not gone to sleep. The moon screen serves as both a notification and a transition between days for crop growth.

Most nights will display the Regular Moon, indicating a standard day with no special occurrences. When a Strange Moon appears, the player should prepare accordingly. A Soul Moon is generally beneficial (providing a full reset of the world and healing the player), while a Strange Moon introduces an element of unpredictability, and the Pale Moon signals the arrival of the Tax Man.

Notes

  • The moon screen appears automatically at midnight and cannot be skipped.
  • The Strange Moon is visually green in color.
  • The Soul Moon is visually bright teal/blue in color.
  • Moon events should not be confused with sleep events, which are a separate system triggered only when the player chooses to go to bed. See Game Mechanics for more details

Trivia

  • The Pale Moon is referenced in the game's official description: "...cower beneath the Pale Moon and try not to die in your sleep."
