Official places to check first

• Steam: the full gameGame identity, availability and supported store features. At our September 10 check, it still displayed “not yet available”; a planned release date is not proof that it has unlocked.
• Steam: the separate Demo appThe Demo is App 3195680. Match your app and version before comparing a guide with what is on your screen.
• Official Steam announcementsLook for “Demo Updated! v0.11.17” (September 1) and “Demo Changelog” (September 8). The September 1 patch changed NPC gift preferences, so an old gift list can be misleading.
• The official wiki on wiki.ggChris Cote endorsed this wiki in May 2025 and invited contributions. It is community-editable; official status does not mean every table has a confirmed current-build check.
• How To Play: the official developer tutorialLinked in the official August 18 announcement and narrated by Chris Cote. We link the tutorial as a viewing resource; we have not reviewed a complete transcript or claimed any specific video timestamp.

Where our routes come from

Seven early mysteries

The April 2025 Mystery number 7 discussion contains a direct developer clarification about what counts, plus a community tree-location answer marked by the developer. We read the full discussion and compare the locations against the wiki's Mysteries and Tasks pages. The old question has an answer; the checklist makes that answer easier to use.

Tasks and early unlocks

The wiki's task names, locations and detailed solutions support our Mall and early-unlock routes. We also compared Neoseeker's Town, Farm and Mall task guide, which showed an edit date of September 7, 2026. Agreement between guides is useful corroboration, not proof of separate playtests.

The initial routes used September 9 snapshots. The expanded reference edition was captured directly on September 10 and now includes each page's revision identifier and edit date. These dates still do not identify a game build. Source blanks and incomplete outcome tables remain visible as incomplete, not guaranteed outcomes.

Controls and fixes

The controls guide translates specific official Demo patch notes into things to try. A developer's “fixed” note is reported as a patch announcement, not as a fix we reproduced ourselves.

The complete reference edition

The Reference Library covers all 146 game-reference topics in the official Wiki's 154-entry non-redirect directory captured on September 10. Seven Wiki homepage/navigation fragments and one editor example are excluded. This covers the source snapshot; it does not claim that the Wiki itself documents every release-game fact.

The Fish Finder combines all captured rod and crab-pot routes with explicit unknowns and per-field conflicts. The Crop Planner uses all 38 crop entries, including flowers and trees, with baseline watering and growth assumptions.

Reference text and data are adapted from Welcome to Elderfield Wiki contributors under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Each topic links the original revision and contributor history. We changed the layout, expanded variant tabs and icon labels, added local navigation and search, and supplied planning tools. These adaptations retain the same content license. Game artwork has separate rights; larger Wiki illustrations link to their original source.

Known disagreements include some fish prices and locations, Grape seed cost and Gloomhops seasons. The tools show the specific alternatives. The broader reference retains the source data rather than silently harmonizing inconsistent edits.

How to read the labels

• Demo route: evidence from the playable Demo period. Check the same task and objective in your log.
• Wiki route: the documented route in a saved, reviewed wiki page; its exact build is unknown.
• Official update: a dated announcement by the developer or publisher.
• Source check: when we reviewed the material. It is not the publication date or a new playtest.

When a current objective differs from this guide, prefer your in-game log and current official notes. A helpful bug report includes the app (Demo or full game), version, task name, exact location and steps that produced the issue. Use Steam discussions for the game; this site does not collect support messages.

Real game images, clearly credited

The artwork and screenshots come from the publisher's official press pack, linked there for media use. The illustrated cover is promotional art; the other images are official game screenshots. Their exact build is not documented. Our captions never present these as screenshots of our own playthrough.

The short release-date trailer is supplied through the official Steam store; the How To Play player uses the video linked by the developer's announcement. Videos only play when you choose to start them.

The tree-direction diagram is an original explanatory schematic, labeled where it appears. It is not a reconstructed map or a screenshot. The game, characters and official artwork remain the property of their respective owners. Elderfield Fieldnotes is an independent fan guide, with no developer or publisher affiliation.
