Crops are plants grown from seeds, and after being harvested they can be sold, given as gifts to villagers, or used as ingredients in recipes (both cooking and crafting). Each crop has its own specifications and can be seasonal or multi-seasonal. When the season changes (after the 28th day), if the crop does not belong to the new season, it will wither and die.
Crows
Crops can be eaten by Crows when they are growing on a plot where there is no Scarecrow within range. Crows will not eat fully grown crops. Different scarecrows have different percentages of chance to scare away crows.
Planting
At the beginning of the game, all tiles are occupied by Ghost Tentacles. It will be necessary to use several Cleansing Balm CleansingBalm to remove them. Fallow (untilled) farmland must be prepared with the Basic Gardening Hoe Hoe before being fertilized or receiving seeds. A tile can only be watered (using the Basic Watering Can WateringCan) after seeds have been planted.
Seeds and fertilizer are placed on a tilled tile individually, and as tool upgrades are obtained, it becomes possible to perform these actions on multiple tiles at the same time.
Grow times refer to the number of nights required for a crop to grow, and therefore do not include the day the seeds were planted. If planted on the first day of a season, a 4-day crop will be ready for harvest on day 5, not day 4.
Crops must be watered every day for maximum growth. If they are not watered on a given day, the crop will not grow that night. Unwatered crops do not die, but they also do not grow. It is important to remember that the day changes at midnight, even if the player does not sleep.
